Jordan's Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission has announced the partial closure of the country's airspace for all arriving, departing, and transit flights starting today.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media, that the restrictions will be in effect daily from 18:00 to 09:00 until further notice.

The decision was made following an assessment of current regional risks and security conditions in accordance with international standards. Captain Dayfallah al-Farajat, head of the Commission, stated that this measure aims to protect civil aviation and ensure the highest level of safety within Jordan's airspace given the escalating regional situation. The Commission has urged passengers to contact their respective airlines for updates regarding flight schedules and temporary restrictions.

This move follows a similar decision by Qatar Airways, which previously announced a temporary suspension of flights to several destinations in the region due to security concerns. Jordan, which shares borders with several conflict-prone areas, frequently coordinates its aviation safety protocols with international regulatory bodies to mitigate risks associated with regional instability. Such closures are standard precautionary measures intended to prevent any potential threats to commercial air traffic during periods of heightened geopolitical tension.
