Following a formal request from the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro, the High Court of Podgorica has approved the extradition of Azerbaijani citizen Hidayet Nemat oglu Suleymanov. The decision follows the submission of necessary documentation in accordance with international legal procedures, allowing for his transfer to Azerbaijan under a simplified extradition process.
According to information provided by the Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Suleymanov is accused of committing fraud in the city of Sumgait. Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly posed as a government official to deceive a victim, promising to facilitate house construction on land belonging to the victim's mother and claiming he could secure necessary permits from state authorities. Through these fraudulent actions, he reportedly caused significant financial damage to the victim.
Following these events, a decision was made to charge Suleymanov with fraud. As he evaded investigation and went into hiding, an international search warrant was issued through the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Baku. Subsequent operational search measures led to his identification and arrest within the territory of Montenegro.
Currently, the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice is taking the necessary measures to facilitate Suleymanov's transfer to Azerbaijan. The Prosecutor General's Office continues to maintain close cooperation with international partners, including Interpol, to locate and extradite individuals wanted for criminal offenses in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
