President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the President of Bulgaria on the occasion of the country's national holiday.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the message highlighted the high level of traditional friendship and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria. President Ilham Aliyev noted that bilateral relations are developing in a spirit of mutual respect and trust, with cooperation expanding across various sectors and being enriched with new content daily.

"Our high-level political relations create a solid foundation for cooperation in economic, trade, transport, humanitarian, and other fields. The active collaboration we demonstrate in the energy sector, which is one of the priority areas of our cooperation, is commendable," the letter stated. President Ilham Aliyev also recalled his recent meeting in Munich with his Bulgarian counterpart, emphasizing the positive impressions from their exchange of views on the prospects for developing Azerbaijan-Bulgaria relations.

The diplomatic relationship between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria has intensified significantly in recent years, particularly within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor. Bulgaria serves as a key partner for Azerbaijan in Europe, facilitating the transit of Caspian natural gas to the wider Balkan region. This strategic energy cooperation is underpinned by a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed in 2015, which continues to serve as the roadmap for deepening ties between Baku and Sofia.
