President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation on April 2 to discuss bilateral relations and regional security concerns.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Press Service of the President of Azerbaijan reported that Masoud Pezeshkian expressed his deep gratitude to the Azerbaijani leader for the humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan to Iran. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan's humanitarian support will continue, noting that additional aid is scheduled to be dispatched in the near future.

During the conversation, President Ilham Aliyev expressed his concern regarding the escalating tensions in Iran and offered his condolences for the loss of life among Iranian citizens. The Azerbaijani head of state expressed his hope for a swift resolution to the ongoing confrontations and stressed the vital importance of achieving lasting peace and stability within the region.

Azerbaijan and Iran share a significant land border and historical ties, with diplomatic relations often focusing on regional cooperation, transport corridors, and energy projects. In recent years, Baku has consistently advocated for regional stability and non-interference, positioning itself as a key player in fostering dialogue across the South Caucasus and neighboring territories.
