Azerbaijan is protecting its territorial integrity and remains ready to demonstrate its strength against any forces of evil, just as it ended the Armenian occupation, President Ilham Aliyev said during a meeting of the Security Council.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state characterized the recent terrorist act as a significant example of ingratitude. President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan had extended diplomatic support and condolences immediately following recent incidents in the neighboring country. "As soon as the recent events occurred, we sent them a message and expressed our condolences. On my instructions, the Foreign Minister spoke with his colleague. I expressed my position to visit their embassy to offer condolences, even though no other head of state visited any Iranian embassy. Failing to appreciate this and behaving in such an ungrateful manner brings honor to no one," the President stated.
The President further warned that those behind the terrorist act against Azerbaijan would regret their actions. "They should not test our strength. The heads of those who wanted to test our strength were crushed by the 'Iron Fist.' Today's incident will yield the same result. Therefore, an action plan must be prepared regarding this matter. All instructions have been given. The Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a note of protest will be presented, and other diplomatic steps will be taken. Relevant instructions regarding the borders have been issued," President Ilham Aliyev added.
The Security Council of Azerbaijan is a constitutional body that coordinates the activities of state agencies in the field of national security and defense. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Council regularly reviews regional stability and the protection of Azerbaijan's sovereign borders. The reference to the "Iron Fist" relates to the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, during which Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity and liberated its lands from occupation.
