President Ilham Aliyev has expressed his gratitude to Slovak President Peter Pellegrini for the support shown to Azerbaijan following drone attacks by Iran targeting Nakhchivan.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state shared his appreciation in a post on his official X account.
"I express my sincere gratitude to Slovak President Peter Pellegrini for his principled position and solidarity following the recent drone attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran against civilian infrastructure in Nakhchivan. Azerbaijan's prompt support during the evacuation of Slovak diplomatic staff from Tehran is a clear manifestation of the high-level and strategic relations between our countries, as well as an expression of our commitment to international cooperation," the post stated.
The strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Slovakia has strengthened significantly in recent years, particularly in the fields of energy security and defense cooperation. This diplomatic exchange highlights the growing mutual trust between Baku and Bratislava amid regional security challenges. Nakhchivan, an exclave of Azerbaijan, remains a critical region for the country's territorial integrity and regional connectivity projects.
