President Ilham Aliyev and the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, have issued joint statements to the press following their meeting in Baku.
According to a correspondent from the Operative Information Center-OMM, the leaders discussed the current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, as well as regional security issues and energy partnership. The meeting underscores the strengthening diplomatic ties between Baku and Brussels as both parties seek to expand collaboration across various sectors.
The European Council President's visit to Azerbaijan is part of a broader effort to enhance the European Union's engagement with the South Caucasus region. Azerbaijan remains a strategic partner for the EU, particularly in the context of energy security and the development of the Middle Corridor, which serves as a vital transport link between Europe and Asia. This high-level dialogue follows previous agreements aimed at doubling gas supplies to Europe and fostering stability in the Garabagh region.
