A significant increase in transit transportation has been observed between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, reflecting the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted this positive trend in an interview with the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA).

President Ilham Aliyev noted that in 2025, the volume of cargo transportation increased by 6.7 percent, reaching 1.4 million tons. Furthermore, during the first half of this year, a 12.2 percent growth was recorded, with the figure reaching 675,000 tons.

"Several joint projects implemented with the Uzbek side are making a significant contribution to further expanding economic cooperation and creating new development opportunities between our countries. The establishment of a 100-hectare pomegranate orchard named 'Friendship Garden' in the liberated Fuzuli district, as well as cooperation in the production of 'Chevrolet' and 'Isuzu' vehicles, are particularly noteworthy in this direction. For reference, as of July 13, 2026, a total of 10,720 'Chevrolet' cars and 275 'Isuzu' buses have been produced," the President stated.

According to President Ilham Aliyev, there are currently over 130 commercial organizations with Uzbek investment registered in Azerbaijan. These entities are successfully operating across various economic sectors, including industry, agriculture, construction, transport, and services.

"The activity of Uzbek companies in Azerbaijan is an indicator of mutual trust, a favorable investment climate, and a strong economic partnership between our countries," he added.

The growing economic ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are part of a broader strategy to enhance regional connectivity, particularly through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor). By leveraging their strategic geographic locations, both nations aim to boost trade efficiency and integrate their logistics networks more closely, fostering stability and economic growth across the Central Asian and South Caucasus regions.
