President Ilham Aliyev met with the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, in Antalya on April 17 to discuss the strengthening of bilateral ties and regional cooperation.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, during the conversation, the heads of state recalled with satisfaction their previous meetings held both in Azerbaijan and Moldova, as well as within the framework of various international events. The leaders emphasized the positive trajectory of Azerbaijan-Moldova relations and highlighted the significant role that mutual visits at various levels play in expanding cooperation between the two nations.
A primary focus of the discussion was the energy sector, where both parties noted extensive opportunities for collaboration. President Sandu expressed high appreciation for the support demonstrated by Azerbaijan, particularly during periods when Moldova faced critical energy needs. Furthermore, the Moldovan President pointed out that the Azerbaijani community living in Moldova contributes actively to the country's socio-political life and overall development. The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of a major diplomatic gathering in Turkiye, reflecting Azerbaijan's active foreign policy and its commitment to fostering strong partnerships with Eastern European nations.
