The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has issued an official statement regarding the recent developments unfolding in the Middle East, calling for immediate de-escalation.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that in a statement shared on its official X social media platform, the agency emphasized that it is closely monitoring the processes currently taking place in the region.
The agency urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint, highlighting the critical importance of preventing any risks that could compromise nuclear security for the population.
The statement reads: "IAEA is closely following the developments in the region. Maximum restraint must be demonstrated to ensure nuclear security. We are currently in constant contact with the countries of the region."
According to the organization, there is currently no evidence of any radiological impact in the area. The IAEA, established in 1957 as an autonomous organization within the United Nations system, serves as the world's intergovernmental forum for scientific and technical cooperation in the nuclear field. Its primary mission is to promote the safe, secure, and peaceful use of nuclear technologies while ensuring that nuclear materials are not diverted for military purposes.
