The Syrian army has reported that artillery shells fired from Lebanon landed near the town of Serghaya, located west of Damascus, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing foreign media outlets, the Syrian military has officially accused Hezbollah of targeting its positions with artillery fire. Reports indicate that additional Hezbollah forces have been observed mobilizing along the Syria-Lebanon border, prompting a high-level security response from Damascus.

The Syrian military command stated that it is currently assessing the situation and remains in contact with the Lebanese army to discuss appropriate courses of action. In an official statement, the military emphasized that the Syrian army will not tolerate any acts of aggression against its sovereign territory and is prepared to respond to further provocations.

The border region between Syria and Lebanon has long been a flashpoint for geopolitical friction, often influenced by the broader instability in the Middle East. Serghaya, situated in the Rif Dimashq Governorate, is strategically significant due to its proximity to the Lebanese border and major supply routes. This latest incident follows a period of heightened military readiness in the area as regional actors navigate shifting alliances and ongoing security challenges.
