Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that both the United States and Iran are sincere regarding the current ceasefire process. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the minister made these significant remarks while answering questions during a program at Anadolu Agency.

The Foreign Minister noted that regular contact is being maintained with the parties throughout the day, emphasizing that the issue of extending the ceasefire period could be discussed based on mutual agreement. He highlighted that Ankara remains actively involved in diplomatic efforts to ensure regional stability and prevent further escalation between Washington and Tehran.

Strait of Hormuz crisis: Global impacts and Turkey's position

Responding to a question regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Hakan Fidan asserted that countries must be able to navigate through this passage freely and without hindrance. He pointed out that this conflict carries serious global implications rather than being a purely regional matter, affecting international energy security and maritime trade routes.

"Everyone must do their part to resolve the Hormuz issue. Turkey is also doing its best to find a solution," the minister concluded. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most vital oil transit chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes daily. Any disruption in the strait typically leads to immediate volatility in global energy markets, making its stability a priority for both regional powers and the international community.
