It should be recalled that the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran on February 28. As a result, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking officials were killed. Following these events, Iran began striking targets it identified in Israel, as well as in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Cyprus, where military bases of the US and its allies are located.
On April 8, Iran, the US, and their allies reached an agreement on a two-week ceasefire. This diplomatic breakthrough comes amid heightened regional tensions and follows extensive mediation efforts aimed at preventing a wider escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
The current diplomatic engagement between Ankara and Tehran underscores Turkey's ongoing role as a regional mediator. Turkey has consistently advocated for stability in neighboring countries and has maintained communication channels with all major parties involved in the regional security architecture to mitigate the humanitarian and geopolitical impacts of the recent hostilities.
