A series of events has commenced in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, within the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) foreign ministers' meeting.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the primary meeting of ASEAN foreign ministers is scheduled for July 21. Until July 24, Manila will host negotiations involving the association's partners, including Russia, China, and the United States, as well as a meeting of foreign ministers from member countries of the East Asia Summit.

Furthermore, participants will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, originally signed in 1976.

According to Dax Imperial, a representative for ASEAN affairs at the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs, the agenda includes discussions on regional security and energy cooperation, specifically the ratification of the ASEAN agreement on petroleum security.

The events are expected to be attended by high-level officials, including Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as representatives from Japan, India, New Zealand, and the European Union.

ASEAN, established in 1967, serves as a critical platform for regional integration and dialogue in Southeast Asia. The organization plays a pivotal role in maintaining geopolitical stability and fostering economic growth among its ten member states, often acting as a bridge for diplomatic engagement between major global powers in the Indo-Pacific region.
