Federal Foreign Minister of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis has held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, that the ministers exchanged views on international and regional security issues, as well as the current situation in the Middle East.
During the conversation, both sides emphasized that further escalation of existing tensions is unacceptable and stressed the importance of resolving the crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means. Minister Cassis expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan regarding recent regional threats and specifically thanked the Azerbaijani side for the support provided in the evacuation of Swiss citizens from Iranian territory.
The ministers also discussed the current state and development prospects of the bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Switzerland. In this context, they highlighted the significance of the upcoming political consultations between the two foreign ministries scheduled for April.
Azerbaijan and Switzerland maintain strong diplomatic ties, characterized by high-level official visits and robust economic cooperation. As a neutral state, Switzerland has frequently engaged with Azerbaijan on regional peace initiatives and humanitarian efforts. This latest high-level contact underscores Baku's growing role as a reliable regional partner and a logistical hub for international diplomatic and humanitarian missions in the South Caucasus and neighboring regions.
