It is difficult to imagine the participation of EU countries in negotiations regarding Ukraine.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin made this statement to journalists, expressing skepticism over the involvement of European and NATO officials in potential peace processes.
Galuzin noted that statements from European statesmen and NATO officials suggesting they should sit at the negotiating table because they are "paying the price of this war" raise significant questions. "How can you imagine the participation of a person, a state, or a group of states in negotiations who believe they should be at the table because they paid for the war? That is, should the people who finance the war sit at the negotiating table? How do you imagine this?" the senior diplomat emphasized.
The remarks come amid shifting geopolitical dynamics following the inauguration of US President Donald Trump in January 2025, whose administration has signaled a potential shift in American foreign policy regarding the conflict. The ongoing tension between Moscow and Brussels remains a central obstacle to diplomatic efforts, as Russia continues to accuse Western powers of escalating the situation through military and financial aid to Kyiv. These developments highlight the deep divide between the Kremlin and the European Union regarding the framework for any future resolution of the crisis.
