Former Beşiktaş president Fikret Orman and former Galatasaray president Burak Elmas have been detained as part of a widening investigation into illegal drug trafficking and consumption in Turkey.
Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Turkish media reports, states that the operation also involves prominent businessmen Hakan Sabanci and Kerim Sabanci, as well as models Didem Soydan and Guzide Duran. Furthermore, an arrest warrant has been issued for popular actress Hande Ercel, who is currently reported to be abroad.
According to official reports, Fikret Orman and Guzide Duran were taken into custody together, while Kerim Sabanci was detained by authorities at Istanbul Airport upon his return from overseas. This latest wave of detentions follows a series of high-profile operations initiated last year, which saw numerous celebrities—including Hadise, Irem Derici, and Birce Akalay—questioned and subsequently released.
The ongoing investigation has sparked significant public debate in Turkey regarding the legal procedures involving public figures. Many of the individuals implicated have expressed concerns through their legal representatives, claiming that the public nature of the detentions damages their reputations and violates the principle of the presumption of innocence. Turkish law enforcement agencies continue to expand the scope of the probe to identify supply chains within the entertainment and business sectors.
