The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued a formal warning to the public regarding water safety, strictly prohibiting swimming in non-designated areas, including canals, rivers, irrigation ditches, and other unauthorized water bodies.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry emphasized that despite ongoing public awareness campaigns, some citizens continue to ignore essential safety regulations, leading to preventable accidents.
The advisory highlights several critical prohibitions for beachgoers: entering the sea during windy weather, camping overnight on beaches, consuming alcohol while at the beach, engaging in reckless behavior in the water, and operating unauthorized boats or small vessels in designated swimming zones.
"Children must not be left unattended at the beach. Citizens must strictly follow all warning signs, safety boards, and the instructions provided by lifeguards. Furthermore, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight is discouraged, and entering the water after dark is considered extremely dangerous," the Ministry stated.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations regularly conducts such campaigns during the summer months in Azerbaijan, as rising temperatures lead to an influx of visitors to the Caspian Sea coastline and inland water bodies. These measures are part of a broader national effort to reduce drowning incidents and ensure public safety during the peak recreational season.
