The Armenian government has officially approved the proposal to sign the charter of the Peace Council regarding Gaza.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the relevant decree has been published on the government's official web portal.

According to the document, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has been tasked with organizing the signing process of the charter. The decision was adopted in accordance with Article 7 of the Law "On International Treaties." Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accepted an invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the council as a founding member. On January 22, the head of government departed for Davos, Switzerland, to attend the official signing ceremony.

The US administration has extended similar invitations to several world leaders to join the newly formed body. The launch of the Peace Council is planned as part of the second phase of the peace plan between Israel and the Hamas movement, which was brokered in October 2025 through the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Türkiye.

The establishment of the Peace Council represents a significant diplomatic effort to stabilize the region following the 2025 peace agreement. By involving a diverse group of founding nations, the initiative aims to ensure long-term monitoring and implementation of humanitarian and security protocols in Gaza. The inclusion of Armenia as a founding member highlights the expanding geographical scope of international involvement in Middle Eastern peace processes under the leadership of US President Donald Trump.
