Armenia is preparing to invite all 196 member states of the convention, including Azerbaijan, to the COP17 climate summit it will host in October.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Armenian Environment Minister Ambartsum Matevosyan announced this during a press conference. According to the minister, Armenia, as the host country, has already sent notifications to all participating states in coordination with the United Nations, and official invitations are expected to be dispatched to the relevant authorities in the near future.

"We are sending the invitations together with the UN. The core idea of such summits is to work together on environmental issues; therefore, no country can be excluded. We are ready for cooperation with everyone," Matevosyan emphasized.

Regarding the discussion of forest restoration and other ecological topics with Azerbaijan, the minister noted that these issues should be considered within the framework of the peace agenda. He stated that discussions on climate and ecology in border regions could take place once the delimitation and demarcation process between the two countries is completed.

The COP17 climate summit is scheduled to take place in Armenia from October 18 to 30. The conference's primary focus will be the review of global biodiversity conservation commitments leading up to 2030. This event follows the global momentum for environmental action, similar to the COP29 summit hosted by Azerbaijan in Baku, which emphasized climate finance and international cooperation. Such international forums serve as critical platforms for regional states to address transboundary environmental challenges and align with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
