On the sidelines of the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan continued his series of bilateral diplomatic engagements.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Turkish Presidential Administration confirmed that President Erdogan held a closed-door meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. The discussions focused on bilateral relations, as well as pressing regional and international agenda items.
The Turkish delegation at the meeting included Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler, AK Party spokesperson Omer Celik, National Intelligence Organization (MIT) head Ibrahim Kalin, and Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, among other senior officials.
Following his meeting with the French leader, President Erdogan held separate talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. This closed-door session addressed issues of regional security and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Ankara and Rome. The Turkish delegation, including Foreign Minister Fidan and Defense Minister Guler, was also present for these discussions.
The NATO Summit serves as a critical platform for member states to coordinate defense strategies and address geopolitical challenges. Turkey, holding the second-largest army within the alliance, plays a pivotal role in NATO's security architecture, particularly regarding regional stability in the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions.
