Global conflicts are causing significant challenges for international exports, stated Elchin Amirbayov, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments, during a panel discussion at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, Amirbayov highlighted the strategic advantages of the Middle Corridor. He emphasized that Azerbaijan's vision for the South Caucasus extends beyond trade to include lasting peace. "In the South Caucasus, we are not just thinking about trade; we are also thinking about peace. For decades, our region was marked by conflict. Today, we are living in de-facto peace with Armenia, which opens new opportunities for us," he noted.
Amirbayov described the Zangezur corridor as a transformative project. "Once realized, the Zangezur corridor will serve as more than just a link between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan; it will act as a vital connection between Asia and Europe. Consequently, the South Caucasus is evolving from a region of decades-long hostility into a zone of cooperation, peace, and prosperity," the official added.
The Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), has gained increasing importance as a reliable alternative to traditional northern trade routes. By integrating the Zangezur corridor into this network, Azerbaijan aims to streamline the movement of goods between China and the European Union, significantly reducing transit times. The Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where these remarks were made, serves as a high-level gathering of political leaders and experts to discuss global challenges and regional cooperation, highlighting Azerbaijan's growing role as a central logistics hub in Eurasia.
