Azerbaijan is a strategic partner for many European countries in political, economic, and especially energy sectors, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs said during the Azerbaijan-Latvia business forum held in Baku on April 22. He emphasized that securing reliable partners is the most valuable asset during periods of global uncertainty.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Latvian leader highlighted his country's readiness to support Azerbaijan within the framework of international organizations. As a member of the European Union, the OECD, and NATO, Latvia is prepared to share its expertise to promote economic ties and strengthen bilateral cooperation. "We highly value the fact that Azerbaijan is a strategic partner not only for Latvia but also for many European countries in the political and economic fields, and most importantly, in the energy sector," Edgars Rinkēvičs added.

The business forum in the capital serves as a platform to enhance trade relations between the two nations, which have maintained diplomatic ties for three decades. Azerbaijan's role as a key energy supplier to Europe has become increasingly significant, particularly through the Southern Gas Corridor, aligning with the European Union's efforts to diversify energy sources and ensure regional security. This partnership is further bolstered by the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Latvia, which covers various sectors including transport, logistics, and digital transformation.
