Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, to discuss bilateral relations and regional security dynamics.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reported that the ministers exchanged views on efforts to de-escalate military tensions in the region. During the call, both sides emphasized the critical importance of ensuring security and stability within the Caspian Sea region.
Jeyhun Bayramov also reiterated the expectations of official Baku regarding the completion of the investigation into drone attacks launched from Iranian territory toward the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The ministers further discussed various bilateral issues of mutual interest, underscoring the need for continued diplomatic dialogue between Azerbaijan and Iran.
The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an exclave of Azerbaijan, remains a strategic priority for the country's defense and regional connectivity. Recent discussions between Baku and Tehran have increasingly focused on border security and the prevention of incidents that could undermine regional stability. This conversation follows a series of high-level engagements aimed at normalizing relations and addressing outstanding security concerns between the two neighboring states.
