Jeyhun Bayramov, German FM discuss Middle East tensions

German Foreign Minister Johann David Wadephul held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) informed Operative Information Center-OMM that the two ministers discussed the current security situation in the region and the impact of rising tensions in the Middle East on regional and global security.

During the call, the German minister expressed deep concern over the drone attacks carried out by Iran against Azerbaijan, strongly condemning the strikes and expressing solidarity with the country. Furthermore, the German official expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for the support provided in the evacuation of German citizens from Iran.

The conversation also featured an exchange of views on the development prospects of Azerbaijan–Germany bilateral relations, as well as other regional issues of mutual interest. Azerbaijan and Germany continue to maintain active diplomatic channels to address security challenges in the South Caucasus and the broader Middle East region. Germany remains one of Azerbaijan's key economic partners in the European Union, with both nations frequently engaging in high-level dialogues regarding energy security and regional stability.
