A group of deputies from the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan will travel to Kazakhstan on August 20 to observe the elections for the country's new unicameral parliament, the Mazhilis, in the capacity of international observers.
This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis.
It was noted that deputies Sabina Salmanova will observe the process in Astana under the auspices of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (CIS IPA), Nasib Mahamaliyev under the CIS Executive Committee, Gulshan Pashayeva under the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), and Gunay Efendiyeva under the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TÜRKPA). Additionally, deputy Hikmat Mammadov will monitor the election process in Almaty as part of the TÜRKPA mission.
During the visit, which concludes on August 25, the deputies will familiarize themselves with the conditions and preparations at polling stations, and observe the voting process and voter turnout.
International election observation missions play a critical role in ensuring transparency and adherence to democratic standards during electoral processes. By participating in these missions, Azerbaijani lawmakers contribute to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the exchange of best practices in election administration among partner nations.
