Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has clarified Tehran's stance regarding relations with the United States.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Pezeshkian stated in an interview with CBS News that resolving issues between the two nations is possible through negotiations and mutual understanding.
The Iranian leader noted that while Tehran remains open to dialogue, it will not retreat from protecting its national interests. According to him, Iran will continue its resistance against economic pressure. Pezeshkian also indicated that his government has developed a special action plan to mitigate the impact of sanctions imposed by the US. He emphasized that Washington's attempts to force Tehran to back down through pressure will not yield results.
It should be noted that the relationship between Tehran and Washington has remained strained for decades, primarily due to disagreements over Iran's nuclear program, regional influence, and the imposition of extensive economic sanctions. These diplomatic tensions are frequently exacerbated by rhetoric regarding military capabilities and regional security, with both sides often signaling a willingness to negotiate while simultaneously reinforcing their respective strategic positions.
