Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held high-level talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow to discuss the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-Russia relations.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the discussions covered a broad agenda, including trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as key regional and international issues.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that both nations are making progress in realizing the potential of the Moscow Declaration on Allied Interaction, signed on February 22, 2022. He highlighted that agreements reached at the highest level have successfully addressed issues related to the aftermath of the AZAL passenger plane crash on December 25, 2024. Lavrov also pointed to the ongoing economic collaboration, referencing the 24th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held in April.
The ministers also addressed the situation in the South Caucasus, with Lavrov noting the growing interest in the "3+3" regional consultative platform. Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that such contacts provide a vital platform for a comprehensive review of the full spectrum of bilateral relations. He noted that despite global economic challenges, the bilateral trend remains positive, with plans to discuss cooperation targets for 2025. The South Caucasus region remains a focal point of diplomatic efforts, particularly regarding post-conflict normalization and regional connectivity, with the "3+3" format serving as a key mechanism for regional stability.
