On January 20, 2026, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, to discuss the expanding strategic partnership between the two nations.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministers reviewed the current state of Azerbaijan-Türkiye bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation within the framework of various international organizations. The discussion also focused on regional security issues, the prevailing situation in the Middle East, and the ongoing normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The relationship between Baku and Ankara is characterized by the Shusha Declaration, signed in 2021, which elevated the ties to the level of a formal alliance. This strategic bond encompasses deep cooperation in defense, energy, and transport sectors, particularly regarding the Middle Corridor. Both nations frequently coordinate their foreign policy efforts to ensure stability and sustainable peace in the South Caucasus region following the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
