Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), on the sidelines of the 82nd session of the commission.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reported the meeting via its official account on X. During the discussions, the sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCAP. The meeting highlighted Azerbaijan's growing role in regional and international platforms, focusing on joint initiatives in energy, transport, digitalization, trade facilitation, green growth, and human capital development.

UNESCAP serves as the United Nations' regional hub for promoting cooperation among countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Azerbaijan has increasingly positioned itself as a vital transit and energy hub between Europe and Asia, particularly through initiatives like the Middle Corridor. The partnership with UNESCAP aligns with Azerbaijan's strategic goals of diversifying its economy and implementing sustainable development projects across the country, including the green energy zones being established in the Garabagh region.
