Ara Nazaryan, the former deputy minister of defense and emergency situations of Armenia, has been officially charged as part of an ongoing anti-corruption investigation. The charges were brought forward by the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee following a detailed probe into financial irregularities.

Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the "Hraparak" publication, reports that the criminal case involves allegations of embezzlement and bribery. According to investigative sources, the case specifically focuses on the illegal distribution of apartments by the Armenian Ministry of Defense during Nazaryan's tenure. Authorities are examining the processes through which state-funded housing was allocated to high-ranking officials and their associates.

Ara Nazaryan served as the deputy minister of defense from 2007 to 2017, before transitioning to the role of deputy minister of emergency situations from 2017 to 2020. Since leaving public office, Nazaryan has largely remained out of the public eye. This investigation is part of a broader crackdown on systemic corruption within Armenia's military and state institutions, which has seen several high-ranking former officials face legal scrutiny over the past few years for the misuse of state resources and budget allocations.
