Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has condemned the recent threats made by US President Donald Trump against Iran.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Tasnim News Agency, that Baghaei expressed Iran's official position via his account on X (formerly Twitter) late Sunday night.
The spokesperson responded to the aggressive rhetoric from Washington by referencing verses from the Holy Quran, emphasizing a belief in divine support against foreign threats and framing the confrontation within a context of faith and justice. Baghaei specifically cited verses 19-21 from Surah Al-Mujadila, which discuss the ultimate triumph of divine will over opposition.
In his post, Baghaei quoted:
“Satan has mastered them and made them forget the remembrance of Allah. Those are the party of Satan. Unquestionably, the party of Satan are the losers. (19) Indeed, those who oppose Allah and His Messenger will be among the most debased. (20) Allah has written, 'I will surely overcome, I and My messengers.' Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might. (21)”
This exchange comes amid heightened diplomatic tensions between Tehran and Washington following the inauguration of US President Donald Trump in January 2025. The rhetoric reflects the ongoing adversarial relationship between the two nations, which has been characterized by economic sanctions, regional competition, and disputes over nuclear policy. Such public statements via social media and official channels continue to serve as the primary medium for diplomatic posturing between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
