A yellow weather warning has been issued for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several other regions of Azerbaijan due to expected windy conditions on August 20-21.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the National Hydrometeorological Service has released an official advisory regarding the incoming weather pattern.
In Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and various districts—including Nakhchivan, Jabrayil, Naftalan, Fuzuli, Gazakh, Ganja, Aghstafa, Shamkir, Samux, Tovuz, Dashkasan, Gadabay, Mingachevir, Jalilabad, Bilasuvar, Goranboy, Goygol, Beylagan, Shirvan, Salyan, Gobustan, Sabirabad, Neftchala, Hajigabul, Khachmaz, Siyazan, Shabran, Guba, Khizi, and Gusar—north-westerly winds are expected to intensify. Wind speeds are forecasted to reach between 13.9 and 20.7 meters per second.
The National Hydrometeorological Service regularly issues such warnings to ensure public safety and to allow relevant municipal services to prepare for potential disruptions caused by adverse weather. Yellow warnings indicate that the weather is potentially dangerous, and citizens are advised to exercise caution, particularly when outdoors or near structures susceptible to wind damage.
