Nearly 32 kilograms of drugs have been found in Baku’s Nizami district, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The ministry provided the information to “Operative Information Center-OMM”.
During an operation conducted by officers of Police Station No. 24 of the Nizami District Police Department, 33-year-old A. Aydinli and 28-year-old H. Hasanov were detained on suspicion of illegal drug trafficking. Nearly 32 kilograms of drugs were found in their possession.
Investigators determined that the suspects had obtained the drugs through foreign nationals whom they met on social media and whose identities are being investigated. They allegedly planned to deliver the drugs to various addresses in Baku for distribution.
The investigation is ongoing.
Drug trafficking is a criminal offense under Azerbaijan’s legislation, and law enforcement agencies regularly conduct operations to prevent the illicit circulation of narcotics.
