Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has announced the cancellation of flights scheduled for today between Baku and Nakhchivan due to severe weather conditions, specifically lightning, observed at the destination airport.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited the national carrier, passengers will be provided with detailed information regarding any schedule adjustments. The airline confirmed that flight operations will resume in their regular mode once weather conditions stabilize and are deemed safe for aviation.
AZAL emphasizes that all operational decisions are made with the primary objective of ensuring the safety of passengers and crew, strictly adhering to international aviation security standards. The Baku-Nakhchivan route is a critical air corridor for the Republic of Azerbaijan, serving as a vital link between the mainland and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which is geographically separated from the rest of the country.
