Train services on all lines of the Baku Metro were disrupted during the morning.
"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that, according to eyewitnesses, train movement stopped for more than 15 minutes.
Eyewitnesses also said that entry to Gara Garayev station had been suspended. Passengers were reportedly asked to leave trains at some stations.
The Baku Metro CJSC said a train malfunction occurred in the entrance area of Icherisheher station. As a result, a backup train was dispatched to remove the faulty train from the line. Service intervals on the Red Line would be restored shortly, it said.
Trains on the Green and Purple lines are operating according to schedule, and there is no dangerous situation or serious cause for concern.
The institution added that it would issue a further statement on the matter.
The Baku Metro, one of Azerbaijan’s main public transport systems, serves the capital through three lines and connects major residential, business and transport hubs. Temporary service disruptions are typically addressed by dispatching backup trains and adjusting intervals.
