In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, humanitarian aid is being sent to the Islamic Republic of Iran to support the needs of the neighboring and friendly Iranian people. The aid, consisting of approximately 30 tons of food products and medical supplies, is being transported via vehicles provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Emil Hasanzade, Director of the Reserves Control Department of the State Reserves Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, informed Operative Information Center-OMM that the assistance package includes 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, over 4 tons of drinking water, nearly 600 kilograms of tea, and approximately 2 tons of essential medicines and medical supplies.
Hasanzade noted that the convoy has already been dispatched and is expected to reach its destination shortly. The humanitarian mission is being accompanied to the Iranian city of Astara by Niyazi Rahimov and Gurban Sadigov, senior officials from the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The initiative follows a telephone conversation held on March 8 between President Ilham Aliyev and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian. This gesture reflects the ongoing bilateral cooperation and humanitarian solidarity between Baku and Tehran. Azerbaijan has a long-standing tradition of providing humanitarian assistance to regional neighbors during times of need, reinforcing its role as a key partner in regional stability and mutual support.
