On June 22, a ceremony was held to exchange documents signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, attended by President Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the two leaders first signed a Joint Statement. Following this, officials from both nations exchanged a series of agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
The exchanged documents cover a wide range of sectors, including customs, sports, labor, healthcare, food safety, industrial cooperation, energy, agriculture, finance, and foreign policy. Key agreements include:
- Technical specifications for the exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles transported between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
- A protocol on cooperation in customs statistics of mutual trade.
- A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of sports.
- An MoU on cooperation in labor and social protection.
- An MoU on cooperation in the field of healthcare.
- An agreement on cooperation in food safety.
- A program for cooperation in the industrial sector for 2026-2028.
- An agreement on cooperation in the energy sector.
- An MoU on cooperation in agriculture.
- An MoU on cooperation between the Central Bank of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan.
- An agreement on the main directions for the development and deepening of economic cooperation.
- A cooperation program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2026-2029.
This extensive package of agreements marks a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between Baku and Ashgabat.
