Azerbaijan and Slovakia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of internal affairs.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan reported that Interior Minister Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov met with his Slovak counterpart, Matus Sutaj-Estok, and his delegation in the city of Shusha.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between the interior ministries of the two nations. Minister Vilayat Eyvazov briefed the delegation on the operational activities of the MIA, the current criminogenic situation in Azerbaijan, and the ongoing efforts to ensure public satisfaction and safety.
The ministers emphasized the importance of joint efforts in combating transnational organized crime, illicit drug and arms trafficking, human trafficking, illegal migration, and cybercrime. They highlighted the necessity of implementing modern technologies and maintaining efficient information exchange to address these security challenges effectively.
Slovak Interior Minister Matus Sutaj-Estok expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality and reaffirmed Slovakia's interest in expanding bilateral cooperation. Following the discussions, the ministers signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The meeting was also attended by the ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of both countries.
This agreement marks a significant step in deepening security ties between Azerbaijan and Slovakia. Such bilateral cooperation is part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to enhance international partnerships in law enforcement and regional security, particularly following the restoration of stability in the liberated territories, including Shusha.
