Azerbaijan and Switzerland have held discussions regarding the expansion of their bilateral economic cooperation. The dialogue underscores the ongoing commitment of both nations to deepen trade and investment relations.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov addressed the progress of these relations during a press briefing in Baku with Ignazio Cassis, the Federal Councilor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, who also serves as the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office.
Minister Bayramov noted that the legal framework between the two countries is supported by 25 existing agreements, with several additional documents currently under development. "Over the past 30 years, Switzerland has invested 1.6 billion dollars in Azerbaijan, while Azerbaijan has invested 2.3 billion dollars in Switzerland," the Minister stated, adding that further agreements are expected in the near future.
The Foreign Minister further announced that the next meeting of the joint economic commission between the two countries is scheduled to take place this autumn. This commission serves as a vital platform for coordinating trade policies and identifying new avenues for investment, particularly in non-oil sectors, which remain a priority for the Azerbaijani government's economic diversification strategy.
