Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Portugal's Minister of State and Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum to discuss the expansion of bilateral cooperation.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) shared details of the meeting on its "X" social media account. The ministers deliberated on prospects for developing bilateral relations, expanding political dialogue, and strengthening cooperation in the economic, trade, and energy sectors. They also discussed mutual interaction within the framework of international organizations and explored the possibility of further strengthening ties through the opening of a Portuguese embassy in Azerbaijan.

The Antalya Diplomacy Forum is a high-level gathering of political leaders, diplomats, and academics aimed at addressing global and regional challenges through dialogue. Azerbaijan and Portugal have maintained diplomatic relations since 1992, with both nations seeking to diversify their economic partnerships, particularly in the renewable energy sector and within the framework of Azerbaijan's growing role as a key energy provider to Europe. The potential establishment of a diplomatic mission in Baku is seen as a significant step toward deepening these Mediterranean-Caspian ties.
