Azerbaijan and Germany have reached an agreement to enhance cooperation on issues of global and regional significance, specifically regarding the sustainable management of water resources.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this commitment is outlined in the Joint Declaration on a Strategic Agenda for Bilateral Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Germany, signed on July 21 in Berlin.

The document outlines a comprehensive framework for bilateral cooperation, including the promotion of trade and investment opportunities. It emphasizes the continued operation of the German-Azerbaijani High-Level Working Group on Trade and Investment as a key mechanism for economic engagement. Furthermore, the declaration highlights the intent to fully utilize the potential for cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, sustainable economic development, green energy, low-carbon hydrogen, energy efficiency, infrastructure, energy flows—including gas—as well as climate action and environmental protection.

This strategic partnership reflects the growing importance of Azerbaijan as a key energy and economic partner for European nations. By aligning on water management and green energy initiatives, both countries aim to address critical environmental challenges while fostering deeper economic integration and infrastructure development in the region.
