The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has granted requests from the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan for the extradition of two Uzbek citizens, Raxmatullo Nomancanovich Mirzaalimov (born 1981) and Azamatcon Abduqapparovich Toxtasinov (born 1976), to face criminal charges.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the individuals were wanted internationally for crimes including large-scale embezzlement committed by a group of persons using their official positions, as well as the use of forged documents leading to severe consequences. Mirzaalimov and Toxtasinov were located and detained in Azerbaijan in April 2026, with preventive detention measures subsequently applied against them.

In accordance with the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters dated October 7, 2002, decisions were made to extradite the accused. They were handed over to the competent authorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the escort of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.

Extradition is a standard legal procedure facilitated by international conventions, allowing states to cooperate in the administration of justice. Azerbaijan frequently collaborates with international partners, including fellow CIS nations, to ensure that individuals accused of serious crimes are held accountable in their respective jurisdictions, thereby upholding international law and bilateral legal agreements.
