Azerbaijani Su-25 attack aircraft have successfully executed combat missions during the Anatolian Phoenix - 2026 international search and rescue exercises currently held in Konya, Turkiye.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Haber Global, the international drills involve military personnel and assets from Azerbaijan, Turkiye, the United States, Poland, and Slovakia. A total of 529 personnel and 21 aircraft are participating in the maneuvers, which are designed to enhance interoperability between allied air forces.
Two Su-25 aircraft belonging to the Azerbaijan Air Force are taking part in the exercises. During the latest phase of the drills, Azerbaijani pilots provided essential air cover and fire support to ground groups, ensuring the effective execution of tactical tasks. The international exercise is scheduled to continue until April 17.
The Anatolian Phoenix exercises, hosted annually by the Turkish Armed Forces, serve as a critical platform for practicing personnel recovery, combat search and rescue (CSAR), and close air support in a realistic operational environment. Azerbaijan's consistent participation in these drills underscores the deepening military cooperation between Baku and Ankara, as well as the Republic of Azerbaijan's commitment to maintaining high-level combat readiness and regional security partnerships.
