The average monthly nominal wage of hired workers in Azerbaijan's economy increased by 9.3 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year, reaching 1,103 manats.
According to the State Statistical Committee, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the highest salaries were recorded in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, as well as transportation and warehousing sectors.
As of January 1, preliminary data indicates that the total number of hired workers in the national economy stood at 1.808 million people. Of these, 865,800 were employed in the public sector, while 942,200 worked in the private sector. The distribution of employment by sector shows that trade and vehicle repair (18.6%), education (18.1%), and industry (13.8%) remain the dominant fields of activity.
Furthermore, 8.5% of employees are active in healthcare, 6.6% in construction, 6.2% in public administration, 4.4% in transport, 3.9% in professional and scientific activities, 2.4% in agriculture, 2.4% in finance, and 15.1% in other sectors.
This growth in nominal wages reflects the ongoing economic development and social welfare policies implemented in Azerbaijan. The steady increase in the private sector's share of employment aligns with the government's long-term strategy to diversify the economy and reduce dependence on the oil and gas sector. Such statistical indicators are vital for assessing the purchasing power of the population and the overall health of the labor market in the Republic.
