In July, the State Border Service of Azerbaijan detained 26 individuals for violating the state border. This information was reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing official data from the State Border Service.
According to the report, the detainees included citizens from various countries: 7 from Azerbaijan, 8 from Afghanistan, 4 from Pakistan, 3 from Iran, 1 from Turkey, 1 from Lebanon (a person with refugee status), 1 from Russia, and 1 from Nigeria.
As part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal migration, authorities also apprehended 9 individuals attempting to cross the border using forged date stamps, falsified passports, or documents belonging to other persons. Additionally, 44 individuals were detained for violating border regime regulations, and appropriate legal measures have been taken against them.
The State Border Service plays a critical role in maintaining national security by monitoring entry and exit points. In addition to border enforcement, the agency's anti-crime operations resulted in the detention of 330 individuals wanted by law enforcement, who were subsequently handed over to the relevant authorities. Furthermore, officials prevented 797 individuals with travel bans from leaving the country and blocked 31 people from entering Azerbaijan.
The agency also reported significant successes in combating drug trafficking. During the same period, 105 kilograms and 793 grams of narcotics, 64 liters of narcotic solutions, and 3,309 various pills were seized and removed from circulation. Notably, one incident involved the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle to transport 330 grams of narcotics and 790 psychotropic pills.
