President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, on the occasion of the country's national holiday—the Day of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Azerbaijani leader expressed his sincere congratulations on behalf of himself and the people of Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the significance of the ties between the two nations, which are bound by shared religious and cultural roots and good neighborly relations. "The increasing dynamics of Azerbaijan-Iran relations in recent times is a source of satisfaction," the letter stated, noting that President Pezeshkian's visits to Azerbaijan last year opened a new chapter in bilateral cooperation.
The President emphasized that the scope of the bilateral agenda is expanding and becoming enriched with new content. He pointed to the intensive nature of visits at various levels, the signing of key documents, and the implementation of joint projects, as well as the effective activities of the State Commission, as evidence of deepening cooperation. "I believe that for the sake of the security and prosperity of our region, Azerbaijan-Iran relations and cooperation will continue to strengthen through our joint efforts in accordance with the interests of our friendly and brotherly peoples," the message read.
Relations between Baku and Tehran have seen a significant uptick in diplomatic engagement over the past year, particularly in the fields of transport and energy. The two nations are currently collaborating on major infrastructure projects, including the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and the construction of hydroelectric facilities on the Araz River. This cooperation is viewed as a vital component for ensuring long-term stability and economic integration within the South Caucasus and the broader region. President Ilham Aliyev concluded his letter by wishing President Pezeshkian health and success, and the people of Iran peace and prosperity.
