Azerbaijan is currently supplying natural gas to markets that were previously considered unreachable, including Syria, with the potential to expand further into neighboring countries where demand remains high. This strategic shift underscores the growing role of the country in regional energy security.

As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during the opening of the IV Shusha Global Media Forum. The head of state emphasized that the country is actively exploring new export routes and opportunities to meet the rising energy needs of its partners.

The President further noted: “In our contacts with European partners, we are conveying the message that we need long-term contracts and a joint effort to expand the gas transportation system.”

The Shusha Global Media Forum, which brings together international journalists, experts, and media executives, serves as a significant platform for discussing global media trends and geopolitical issues. Azerbaijan's energy policy, particularly its role as a reliable supplier to Europe through the Southern Gas Corridor, remains a central pillar of the nation's foreign and economic strategy, enhancing its geopolitical influence in the region.
