Azerbaijan's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached 29 billion 703.2 million manats during the period of January-March this year, reflecting a slight contraction in the national economy.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the State Statistical Committee, that this figure represents a 0.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2025.
According to the official data, the following dynamics were recorded in the country's economic indicators over the past year: the value of the oil and gas GDP decreased by 1.2%, falling to 8 billion 531.6 million manats. Conversely, the non-oil and gas sector saw a marginal increase of 0.2%, reaching a total value of 21 billion 171.6 million manats.
The economic performance in Azerbaijan remains heavily influenced by global energy market fluctuations and the government's ongoing efforts toward economic diversification. In recent years, the Cabinet of Ministers has prioritized the development of the non-oil sector, including agriculture, logistics, and tourism, to reduce the country's reliance on hydrocarbon exports. This latest data underscores the challenges of maintaining growth momentum amid a decline in the traditional energy sector, which remains a cornerstone of the Republic's fiscal stability.
