The population of Azerbaijan has increased by 5,814 people, or 0.1 percent, since the beginning of the year, reaching a total of 10,268,165 as of April 1, 2026.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, these figures were highlighted in the latest publication by the State Statistical Committee, which details the macroeconomic indicators of Azerbaijan's economic and social development for the January-April period. The report specifies that 54.3 percent of the population resides in urban areas, while 45.7 percent are rural residents. In terms of gender distribution, men account for 49.8 percent of the total population, while women make up 50.2 percent.

The steady demographic growth in Azerbaijan reflects the country's ongoing socio-economic stability and the effectiveness of state-led social welfare programs. Monitoring population dynamics is a key component of the government's strategic planning, particularly for the allocation of resources in healthcare, education, and infrastructure. This data also plays a vital role in the Great Return program, as Azerbaijan continues the systematic resettlement and reconstruction of its liberated territories in Garabagh and East Zangazur.
